Famous as one of Britain’s most historic seaside amusement parks, Dreamland Margate reopened in May 2017 following a massive, £25m refurbishment. W’s challenge was to capture media interest and drive footfall ahead for the crucial summer season.

Harnessing its live event expertise, We applied a twin-track approach: maintaining a steady stream of national news coverage ahead of the opening weekend, while simultaneously placing targeted features on the continued renaissance of Margate as a destination – with Dreamland at the centre of the narrative as the most compelling reason to visit. W managed media output for the park’s showpiece events, including the acclaimed return of Gorillaz at their own Demon Dayz Festival.

On opening night, visitor numbers hit 17,000, dozens of national, regional, and local media were in attendance, and the sun was shining, as the park’s original 1920s Scenic Railway thrilled our guests – putting Dreamland firmly back on the cultural map for summer 2017 and beyond.
